| Project objectives in English | The objective of the applicant's work is to compile a complete biography of T.G.Masaryk, conceived as a narrative, but based on a scientific apparatus meeting all requirements of qualified historical research. No such work exists as yet (the onlyattempt, in the form of Zd. Nejedlý's biographic torso from 1930-37), although it is badly needed, not only by Czech, but also by world historiography, since Masaryk is one of the greatest personalities in modern history. The 1st and 2nd parts of thesix-volume series (which is to cover the time of 1850-1937) planned by the applicant have already been published (1./1850-1882/ - 2000; 2./1882--1893/ - 2001). The applicant intends to finish up the third volume (1893-1900) in the year 2003 and thefollowing volumes 4 and 5 (1900-1914; 1914-1918) in the years 2004-2005. |
