Project objectives in EnglishThe aim of the proposed project is to process the illuminated manuscripts of Czech origin in Polish collections and to publish them in the form of a scholarly-research catalogue. There are many Czech manuscripts which have found their way beyond the borders of the Czech lands and are to be found today in important collections throughout the world. Collections in Poland are not insignficant in this respect, particularly those in Krakow and Wroc?aw, though there are are individual manuscripts to be found in other Polish towns too. The applicant has previously had the opportunity to acquaint himself with some of these manuscripts and over the years, information has emerged of other hitherto unknown documents involving Czech book painting. It will also be necessary to reevaluate the results of previous research, particularly as regards the origins of these manuscripts (the uncertainty over the distinction drawn by previous research between Czech and Silesian illuminations is evident at Wroc?aw).
